Reflexology Information

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient healing art that was practised in China over 5,000 years ago. Old texts show that the Japanese, North American Indians, Russians and Egyptians also worked on the feet to encourage and preserve good health. This therapy is based on the principal that there are reflexes in the feet and hands, which relate to all the organs and functions of the body. During the 1930’s, Eunice Ingham known as the mother of Reflexology, mapped the entire body onto the feet. She discovered that by alternating pressure on the various reflexes had great therapeutic effects and so modern day reflexology was born… How Reflexology works

It is a therapy that treats the feet in order to balance the whole body. Reflexology is a non invasive hands on holistic therapy, which will activate the body’s own healing powers, enabling the necessary balance between physical, mental and emotional states. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet. By using a gentle massage technique, these blockages can be released to restore a free flow of energy to the body to encourage the healing process. It is known that 75% of disease is estimated to be stress related. Reflexology relieves stress and tension and has a deeply relaxing effect. This therapy has proved very beneficial for a wide range of chronic and acute conditions.
